Camping World and the Veterans of Foreign Wars partnered throughout the 2008 NASCAR season to give VFW Unmet Needs families a racetrack experience they won’t soon forget.
VFW Unmet Needs families have received emergency assistance through VFW due to hardship resulting from military service. VFW Unmet Needs grants cover necessities like mortgage payments, car repairs and groceries.
“It’s hard to explain the emotions and gratitude expressed by the VFW Unmet Needs recipients after spending the weekend at a NASCAR event and staying in a Camping World motor home,” said Michael Penney, Director, VFW National Military Services. “For these young warriors and their families, it is truly a fairytale weekend beyond their wildest dreams.”
VFW Unmet Needs families were invited to four VFW primary races throughout the season: Daytona, Atlanta, Texas and Phoenix. On each occasion, Camping World donated a weekend-long stay in an RV. Camping World also provided 40 tickets for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard in Indianapolis on July 25th.
“We’ve really enjoyed working with the VFW to give their VFW Unmet Needs families an opportunity they might not otherwise have. The families have been very appreciative, and we enjoy sharing that experience with them. It’s a token of gratitude for everything our military men and women do for our country,” says Camping World RV’s Director of Motorsports, Kurt Hunt.
Camping World and the VFW plan on continuing this relationship throughout the 2009 NASCAR season and look forward to hosting VFW Unmet Needs recipients at races across the nation.
