“She’s the reason I have the strength to move forward,” said David Crow, Sgt. 1st Class, about his daughter, Ashley.
Now serving in Iraq, he was overjoyed to find that VFW sponsored a call home, through its “Free Call Days” program.
“It’s so nice to know that people back home support us and we are not forgotten,” explained Crow. Upon his return home to Kansas, he looks forward to a warm, home-cooked meal.
He is reminded that his wife, Stacey, and daughter, Ashley, have not forgotten him either.
During Crow’s call, he caught up on activities at home. He also discussed upcoming redeployment and PCS matters with his wife and received school updates from Ashley.
“To hear the voice of a loved one, especially a child, is the most important morale booster,” said Crow.
“When military members see the words ‘free’ or ‘provided by’ they remember the name. The [VFW] name will forever be recognized as military-friendly, providing support when most needed.
“There are really no words that describe the appreciation we have for organizations like the VFW,” explained Crow. “They go out of their way to make our jobs easier.” |
